For more than three generations, our family has made a living from the sea.

After moving from Croatia, Reno Martinovic began fishing in New South Wales during the 1960s. His fishing journey saw him move to the South Australian seafood capital, Port Lincoln, where he fished for Bluefin Tuna before becoming one of the Spencer Gulf prawn fishing pioneers in the 1970s.

It was during this time that Reno’s son started working with his father on his prawn trawler, before purchasing his own vessel and licence. The father-and-son duo continued fishing in Spencer Gulf and also purchased a vessel and two licences in Gulf St Vincent.

This led to the opening of Free Range Seafood in 1989 — where customers, wholesalers, and restaurants could purchase their prawns direct from the fisherman.

Today Free Range Seafood is run by Reno’s grandson, who proudly continues the tradition of bringing premium wild-caught Spencer Gulf and Gulf St Vincent King Prawns directly from our vessels to seafood lovers across Australia.
